Corona incidence in Rhineland-Palatinate climbs to a high

The seven-day incidence of corona infections in Rhineland-Palatinate reached its highest level since the beginning of the pandemic on Friday.
This surpassed the previous record from Thursday.
The indicator for the most recent extent of infection in relation to the population rose from 342.4 to 362.9, as reported by the state investigation office.
Mainz – The health authorities registered 2952 new cases within 24 hours (as of 2:10 p.m.).
A corona infection has currently been detected in 35,175 people in Rhineland-Palatinate.
The hospitalization incidence - the number of hospital admissions per week per 100,000 inhabitants - has recently changed only slightly despite the sharp increase in the incidence.
It was 2.76 on Friday after 2.85 on Thursday.
The state investigation office states the proportion of the virus variant omicron in the infections genetically examined in the laboratory at 81.9 percent.
The number of reported deaths from Covid patients rose by two to 4734.

The highest seven-day incidence was on Friday in the city of Kaiserslautern with 670.3 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days.
This was followed by the state capital Mainz (560.1), the district of Kaiserslautern (533.3) and the district of Mainz-Bingen (502.1).
The lowest incidence was 165.4 in the Southwest Palatinate district.
