With 3841 newly detected infections in one day, the corona numbers in Hamburg reached a high on Friday.

According to the health authorities, the seven-day incidence, i.e. the number of newly reported infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week, reached 897.8 – after 801.8 on Thursday and 556.5 on Friday a week ago.

At the same time, the number of people who have died from or in connection with the corona virus since the beginning of the pandemic has increased by 2 to 2038.

With the seven-day incidence, Hamburg is still well above the national average.

Based on a different calculation method, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave a seven-day incidence of 665.0 for Hamburg on Friday and a value of 470.6 for all of Germany.

The 3,841 cases reported on Friday are 77 more than Thursday and 830 more than a week ago.

Never before have so many new cases been reported in one day.

Nationwide, the number of corona cases rose to a record level of 92,223.

The health authority in Hamburg continues to point out that a higher number of cases and thus a higher incidence must be assumed.

The reason is the rapid increase and the high number of cases, which sometimes led to later reports from the laboratories and sometimes delayed processing at the transmitting offices.

According to the available data, at least 169,149 people have been infected in the Hanseatic city since February 2020.

According to the RKI estimate, 130,700 of them are considered recovered.

On Friday afternoon (as of 11.15 a.m.) 70 Covid 19 patients were treated in the intensive care units of the Hamburg hospitals, four fewer than the day before.

This emerges from the register of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (DIVI).

43 of them had to be ventilated invasively, two fewer than on Thursday.

The health authority gave the total number of Covid 19 cases in the clinics as 430 (as of Thursday) - 19 more than the previous day.

According to the RKI, the hospitalization incidence, i.e. the number of corona patients admitted to hospitals per 100,000 inhabitants per week, rose to 6.05 on Friday - after 5.51 on Thursday.

Nationwide, the value rose from 3.09 to 3.23.

If limit values 3, 6 and 9 are exceeded, the federal states can impose stricter measures to combat the pandemic.

According to the RKI, 80.2 percent of Hamburg residents have now been vaccinated at least once.

Accordingly, 77.9 percent of Hanseatic residents have complete basic protection with the second syringe that is usually necessary.

42.1 percent received a booster vaccination.

When it comes to first and second vaccinations, Hamburg is still in third place behind Bremen and Saarland in a country comparison.

When it comes to booster vaccinations, Hamburg is fifth from last, ahead of Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
