For more than two years, the judiciary and politicians have been dealing with a pistol that ex-Interior Minister Lorenz Caffier (CDU) is said to have bought or received.
Now the minister has to pay a fine in this connection.
Güstrow/Schwerin - Because he is said to have received a pistol from an arms dealer without payment, the former interior minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lorenz Caffier (CDU), must now pay a fine.
A penal order issued for taking advantage in two cases is now final, as the director of the Güstrow district court, Andreas Millat, said on Friday.
By the end of the objection period, no appeal had been received from the ex-minister.
The penalty order is 45 daily rates of 300 euros each, which means a total of 13,500 euros.

According to the public prosecutor, Caffier received the semi-automatic handgun worth around 800 euros free of charge from the dealer in January 2018 and took part in free shooting training for instruction.
The ammunition was also free.
The district court also ordered the confiscation of the handgun.
When the penal order was issued, Caffier had already stated at the request of the German Press Agency that he would not comment on the process.
The CDU politician resigned as minister in November 2020 when the purchase of weapons became public.
He claimed to have bought the gun but failed to provide proof.
The investigations against the arms dealer and shooting range operator were discontinued in October 2021 for a fee of 3,000 euros.
The man, who, according to secret service findings, is said to have had contacts with the right-wing extremist prepper group “Nordkreuz” in 2017, was reportedly being investigated for granting advantages.
For years, police officers from the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and other federal states trained at the gun dealer's shooting range.
