The Citrus Marketing Committee in Lattakia asked farmers who wish to deliver their product directly to the Syrian Trade Corporation, which is packed by them with cork boxes or bags, without waiting for the foundation’s boxes to reach them, to register with the agricultural associations and extension units to send the appropriate mechanism to bring citrus to the establishment’s centers.
A member of the committee on behalf of the governorate’s General Secretariat, Eng. Shadi Saqr, said in a statement to SANA reporter that this procedure facilitates the process of communication with the committee and increases the marketed quantity, especially since a large number of farmers do not want to wait for them to deliver boxes from the establishment, pointing out that the committee gave an additional price to buy citrus in This case is at a rate of 100 Syrian pounds per kilo to compensate for the price of the cork box and 50 pounds per bag.
Saqr indicated that the farmer can also deliver his crop packed by him in cork boxes or bags directly to the sorting and packing center of the branch of the Syrian Trade Corporation in Latakia behind the mosque gas station, provided that he shows a paper stamped from the agricultural association and the extension unit in the name of the farmer, his national number and the name of the village.
The committee set, according to a hawk, the prices for the rest of the citrus varieties in the institution’s branch to be 900 Syrian pounds per kilogram of municipal acid packed in boxes from the institution, in addition to 100 Syrian pounds per kilo if it was filled with cork boxes by the farmer, 700 Syrian pounds for American acid in the foundation’s boxes, and 800 Syrian pounds for the boxed one. As for the purchase of the Mandelina variety, it was set for the first elite at 1,000 Syrian pounds per kilo in the foundation boxes and 1100 Syrian pounds filled with cork boxes by the farmer, while the second elite at 800 Syrian pounds per kilo in the foundation boxes and 900 Syrian pounds for the meyer variety with 300 Syrian pounds per kilo packed with boxes Enterprise.
Yesterday, the committee set the purchase price of the Abu Surra variety at 650 Syrian pounds for the first class, 500 for the second class, and 300 pounds for the third class, in addition to 100 pounds if they are filled with cork boxes by the farmer, and 50 pounds when filling the second and third classes with nylon bags.
The committee also reduced the measurement of the size of the fruit for each toast of the varieties, which contributes to increasing the price for the benefit of farmers.
A citrus marketing committee was formed in Lattakia based on the decision of the Council of Ministers in its last session with the aim of organizing work and coordinating with the concerned authorities to ship quantities of marketed citrus from farmers through Syria for trade, in a way that contributes to providing the material to the consumer at reasonable prices and in a manner that benefits farmers and farmers.
The committee headed in the governorate by the director of the branch of the Syrian Trade Corporation includes representatives from the Directorate of Agriculture, the Peasants' Union, the branch of Sadcop Company, and the General Secretariat of the governorate.
