The prepas are on the rise.
The number of wishes in preparatory classes for the Grandes Ecoles (CPGE) jumped by 28% on Parcoursup in 2021, and 17% of candidates had put at least one preparatory course in their choices.
Face-to-face teaching despite the health crisis, the equivalences with the university and the freeness of these studies in public establishments largely explain this renewed attractiveness.
In September, 84,400 students entered these courses which prepare for the competitions of the ENS (Higher Normal Schools), the best business or engineering schools.
In detail, 63% are in scientific CPGEs, 14% in letters and 23% in economics and commerce.
