The Wittmund district in Lower Saxony has the lowest corona incidence in Germany
Probably the most important factor for the lowest incidence in Germany is the distribution of relatively few people over a relatively large area.
Around 53,400 people live in the district of Wittmund in a total area of 657 square kilometers.
That's only 87 inhabitants per square kilometer.
In comparison: In Bremen, the city with the highest nationwide incidence, there are 1781 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Due to the high corona numbers and the rapid spread of the omicron variant, Bremen has already introduced corona warning level four.

In addition: Even the small range of public transport, without underground and S-Bahn, ensures few encounters in everyday life.
Compared to the big cities, the schools are also significantly smaller and there is no industry with thousands of workers in the Wittmund district, so that the lowest corona incidence in Lower Saxony and Germany can be explained relatively quickly.
The district administrator justifies the low incidence with the stamina and discipline of its residents.
"People are following the rules.
We didn't have any spreader events in the district," said a spokesman for the "Bild" newspaper.
There are also no large discos or slaughterhouses.
Discos in particular caused hundreds of corona outbreaks in Lower Saxony.
Means: In the district of Wittmund there are fewer meetings in closed rooms - and therefore fewer opportunities for corona infection.
