Six days after a Seattle home collapsed in a mudslide caused by bad weather and rain, firefighters rescued a missing dog presumed dead, authorities said.

The Seattle Fire Department responded to the house on Thursday after being notified by the owners of having heard the animal inside the house.

"My baby!".

Didi Fritts, one of the home's owners, screamed after the black dog was removed from the home in the city's Magnolia neighborhood, Seattle's KING Network, an affiliate of our sister network NBC News, reported.

Firefighters released video of the rescue in which one of the rescuers can be heard saying "it's okay" as 3-year-old dog Sammy was pulled from the stable building.

The two-story home tore off its foundation and partially slid down a hillside during heavy rain on Friday.

Didi Fritts managed to escape and firefighters rescued James Fritts, who was trapped.

One of their dogs died, and the second, Sammy, was left for dead.

"There was a loud noise and everything came crashing down on us," Didi Fritts told reporters, who thought they were both going to die.

When the first floor collapsed, Didi Fritts had 10 centimeters of free space to move and was able to push through the debris to escape.

James Fritts got trapped by a refrigerator.

The fire department has said that rain most likely caused the slide.

Seattle received more than 4 inches of rain last week, and Washington experienced days of rain that caused flooding in other parts of the state and killed one person.

In the mountains, heavy snow closed all four major passes connecting eastern and western Washington.

The last of them, the White Pass, was reopened Thursday, according to the state Department of Transportation.
