Driver's license exchange in Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen: Half of it is probably still missing

- It's getting tight: The deadline is running out for the first generation of students who now have to exchange their old paper driver's licenses for those in credit card format with an expiry date.
The good thing for all those affected who have not yet made it: With a view to Corona and the deadline bottlenecks in many authorities, according to the decision of the Transport Ministers' Conference in December, fines should probably not be imposed for another six months.
But whose turn is it to exchange and how does it take place?
Marlis Peischer, spokeswoman at the district office, answered this at the request of our newspaper.
Ms. Peischer, who now has to exchange their driver's license and how many of those affected have already done so?
Anyone who has a pink or gray paper driving license and was born between 1953 and 1958 must have exchanged it by January 19, 2022.
The number of exchange requests in 2021 stood at 2086 cases as of December 31.
The number of those who belong to the aforementioned group of people and have not yet exchanged cannot be filtered.
According to our estimates, we expect at least this number to be repeated.
We can, and we have done this again and again in the past, inform our fellow citizens via the press and other media and point out the exchange obligation.
What are the costs associated with reissuing a driving license for citizens and how long is it then valid?

If I apply for the exchange only now, is there any chance of getting my new driver's license before the January 19 deadline?
If you only apply now, you will only receive the new driver's license after the deadline has expired.
Processing takes around three to four weeks, depending on Bundesdruckerei's order volume.
However, we were able to arrange for the new driver's license to be delivered directly to your home by the Federal Printing Office.
This means there is no need to go to the authorities again to pick it up.
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen: Paper driving licenses now have to be exchanged bit by bit
The conversion probably means an increased workload for the administration: How many employees are exclusively occupied with the driver's license exchange?
The utilization is actually very high, which can sometimes lead to delays.
No employee at the driver's license office is exclusively involved with the exchange campaign.
The entire staff in the front office – currently five employees – is entrusted with this task.
From an organizational point of view, this is the most effective way to complete the task.
With
a view to Corona: Can you just drop by the district office or do you need an appointment?
Can the driver's license exchange also be done online?
An appointment must be booked online in advance, the 3G rule applies in the house.
It is best to use the online procedure provided for the exchange.
The exchange is completely contactless and the existing appointments can be kept free for other matters that are not possible online.
Can people from other years who don't want to wait until the last minute apply for an exchange now?
Yes.
However, for reasons of capacity, we ask that you refrain from doing so.
In order to avoid a rush, the legislator has set the deadlines.
In addition, the Bundesdruckerei only has a certain capacity for the production of driver's licenses.
The group of people who are obliged to exchange enjoy absolute priority in processing the transaction.

A biometric photo, a copy of the identity card or alternatively the passport (in this case a current confirmation of registration from the municipality of residence must also be enclosed) and the previous driver's license are required for the driving license card.
