10H and (no) end?

Soon the antipodes Söder and Habeck speak.

CSU people are already explaining their concern for Upper Bavaria's beauty.

But the economy is also warning.

Munich – Green Minister Robert Habeck and Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) will probably be negotiating the controversial issue of wind power next week.

First of all, the district administrators in the Free State and the Munich Upper Bavaria Tourist Association are clearly positioning themselves.

But there is also a curious side note: In the neighboring state of Baden-Württemberg, which also tends to have little wind power, the Union and the Greens seem to be playing almost reversed roles in the wind energy debate.

Söder and wind power: CSU district chief warns – “The rural area is not there …”

Bavaria's district council president Christian Bernreiter (CSU) pleaded on Friday to keep the 10H rule introduced by former Prime Minister Horst Seehofer. "Rural areas are not there to play the role of energy supplier for the densely populated area as long as potentials in the cities, for example on the roofs, are not fully used," explained Bernreiter.

The Upper Bavaria Munich Tourism Association, which is also headed by a CSU politician, also rejected the abolition of the 10H rule.

The two associations thus opposed both Habeck and the domestic economy, which was driven by fear of power failures.

Söder himself explained to the

Münchner Merkur

in an interview published on Saturday that the relative Bavarian wind weakness was "not due to 10H, but to the topography".

He will submit the Bavarian energy plan to Habeck.

The Greens in the state parliament have also massively criticized the Bavarian climate plans.

Seehofer's wind power rule under fire: Even the economy is taking on Söder

Seehofer introduced the 10H rule in 2014 because there was great resistance to the systems in parts of the citizenry.

Since then, the distance between a wind turbine and the next settlement has generally had to be ten times the construction height, and the construction of wind turbines in Bavaria has almost come to a standstill.

The traffic light coalition now wants to remove these hurdles.

The Association of Bavarian Business is also calling for the 10H regulation to be abolished because, according to analyzes by the Prognos Institute, there is a risk of instability in the Bavarian power supply over the coming years.

"The diverse rural areas must not become a guarantor for the densely populated areas," declared Bernreiter, who is also a member of the CSU executive board.

In the district council, as a non-partisan body, there are also district administrators from free voters, the SPD and the Greens.

Söder's coalition on wind power at odds - the tourism association fears for Tegernsee and Elmau Castle

Free voters and Greens are actually pushing for an end to the rule at the state level.

"We also have to tackle the 10H regulation," Environment Minister Thorsten Faithr (free voters) confirmed some time ago when asked by

.

His goal is to "promote the citizen-friendly expansion of wind power in solidarity." The Green climate spokesman Martin Stümpfig warned at the time that the solar course targeted by Söder could not cover the energy requirements in winter with little sun.

Party friend Habeck presented his expansion plans this week - and rejected Bavarian "prevention planning". At the same time, he left a compromise path open: agreements and deals between the federal states are conceivable on the way to using two percent of the state area for wind power, he explained at his press conference

The Upper Bavarian Tourist Association is meanwhile concerned that wind turbines could destroy the landscape in Bavaria's most important holiday region and thus harm tourism.

"Many landscapes such as the Königssee with Sankt Bartholomä, Herrenchiemsee Castle, the Tegernsee or Elmau Castle with the Zugspitze characterize the image of Bavaria and Germany in the world," said Klaus Stöttner, member of the Rosenheim CSU state parliament and head of the association.

"These important lines of sight should not be obstructed." With finance minister Albert Füracker, a Söder confidant recently surprised with a wind turbine plea.

Greens and Union: Upside-down world in Baden-Württemberg - "Doing is like wanting, only much more blatant"

From a Bavarian perspective, the world is upside down in the neighboring state of Baden-Württemberg. In the construction of wind turbines, the country urgently needs to catch up with the pace of the northern German states, says the CDU there. "We have to approach the matter ambitiously," said parliamentary group leader Manuel Hagel on Friday in Stuttgart. The period from planning to construction of a wind farm can be reduced to twelve months. Group Vice President Andreas Deuschle explained flippantly: "Doing is like wanting, only much more blatant."

Of course, the Greens in the Stuttgart state parliament are not against the expansion of wind power.

But they appear sober: A spokesman for the Ministry of the Environment said that a task force set up by Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) is already addressing almost everything that the CDU is proposing.

So there should be simpler approval procedures and an award offensive for the leasing of areas in the state forest.

At least there are parallels here: The use of state forests for wind power is still being worked out in Bavaria - and there are also some arguments about it.
