However, Jiang Yuhuan, a member of the Legislative Council of the New Science and Technology Election Commission, said in an exclusive interview with the newspaper that the "northern metropolitan area" is too far from Central, "I will not move in."

In an interview with "Sing Tao Daily", Jiang Yuhuan criticized the idea of "northern metropolitan area" being off the ground and not considering citizens to go to work. Liu Guoxun, who has repeatedly expressed his support for the development of the "Northern Metropolitan Area", said that Jiang Yuhuan's statement is exactly the same as the official thinking in the past, that the New Territories North is a border area.
He said that from a global perspective and a high-end perspective, the New Territories North is the center of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
The Northern Metropolitan Area Development Strategy proposes to reclaim private fish pond wetlands, together with adjacent government land, to establish wetland conservation parks.
The existing sites include government land and private land, mostly fish ponds.

Lau Kwok-hsun said that he has lived in the North District for more than 30 years and often travels between the North District and Hong Kong Island, and understands the daily experience of New Territories residents.
He pointed out that Hong Kong's economic center is too concentrated in the Central and Admiralty areas, so that residents of the New Territories North have to take long-distance buses to go out to work every day. Therefore, he believes that Hong Kong is more urgent to develop a new center and develop key industries such as innovation and technology in the north.
Lau Kwok-hsun added that the current population of North District and Yuen Long is over 900,000, but employment opportunities are only over 100,000. If the "Northern Metropolis" is developed, it will provide residents in the district with a large number of and diversified employment opportunities.
He also said that many professionals and institutions have expressed interest in the development proposals he has put forward long ago, and have held a number of study tours and lectures, including Deloitte & Touche.
He said that Jiang Yuhuan may not have a comprehensive understanding of the "Northern Metropolis", and hoped to invite the other party to discuss the development of the area and to inspect the New Territories North.
