Kleber takes over the Schatzbergalm

2022-01-14T06:12:18.990Z

Peter Kleber didn't hesitate for a second when Inga Persson, landlady of the Schatzbergalm in Dießen, told him in October that she wanted to give up the gastronomy and was looking for a tenant. Kleber, who owns the “Essen's Art” restaurant in Dießen and who had been looking for a second source of income for a long time, struck immediately. The official handover is next Monday. If things go well, the 50-year-old wants to reopen the Schatzbergalm on March 1st. An official celebration is to follow in May.

If things go well, the 50-year-old wants to reopen the Schatzbergalm on March 1st. An official celebration is to follow in May.

Dießen

- The Schatzbergalm has been owned by the Purr family for 65 years. In 1987, Anton Purr, Inga Persson's husband, took over the Alm from his grandmother Katharina. After 25 years of leasing, Inga Persson has been running the inn and boarding house since 2013. The doctor of literature wants to continue running the boarding house on the Alm, but dedicates herself more intensively to her work as a crime writer. In 2018, the first Upper Bavaria thriller by the Schleswig-Holstein native was published. Since then, the 57-year-old has written a new thriller every year, most recently "Hundling".

Peter Kleber is happy and sees the Schatzbergalm as a huge opportunity. "But it wouldn't work without our team and family," he emphasizes in an interview with Starnberger Merkur and can count on the 100 percent support of his permanent employees and his wife Isabelle. He has been running “Essen's Art” on Untermüllerplatz in Dießen, just 80 meters from the lake, for ten years. There is also a renovation going on there at the moment. In the Schatzbergalm it only starts after the handover from next week. He wants to make the popular excursion destination different from the classic Bavarian restaurant. "You'll be surprised, it will still look different," he says enthusiastically.

In the beer garden, which was last run as a beer garden, a “Bavarian attitude to life” is to move in again, which, in Kleber’s opinion, absolutely includes the fact that you are welcome to bring your own snack.

Also on the veranda and in the dining room, the guests should be received in a Bavarian way, he is planning an appearance "from a single source".

How much change is possible, however, would first have to be revealed in discussions with the Purr family.

What is certain is that the offer will be expanded and that the Schatzbergalm will remain a good Bavarian inn.

“Essen's Art”, which has been family-owned since 2004, will now, like the Schatzbergalm, become part of the newly founded Kleber Gastronomie GmbH.

"It's a challenge for all of us, but we're looking forward to it," says Kleber.

He's already looking for kitchen staff.
