The variant virus strain Omicron is on the rise. There were 14 new confirmed cases in Hong Kong yesterday (13th), 5 of which were imported-related cases, and the initial confirmed cases were less than 10.
The Hong Kong government closed the first block of Tuen Mun Lung Shing Garden and the second block of Tuen Mun Capitol Garden respectively last night, involving two female nurses from JP Medical who were initially diagnosed. The operation is expected to be completed at 7 am this morning.
As the epidemic is over, all child care centres, kindergartens and primary schools in Hong Kong will suspend face-to-face classes on or before today (14th) until after the Lunar New Year holiday. Secondary schools will continue their current class arrangements at this stage.
The Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, explained a few days ago that the decision to suspend classes was a difficult decision, but because of the multiple cases of confirmed cases of young children, teachers and students have to be sent for inspection.
