North Korea fired an unidentified projectile toward the east of the country, according to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff.

It is unclear how many shells were fired.

This comes just days after North Korea said on Tuesday it had successfully tested a hypersonic missile, the third alleged test of such a weapon by the Kim Jong Un regime.
