Olching – A major fire broke out late in the evening on December 14 at the “Großer Berg” municipal construction site.
Several fire brigades had to arrive with a total of 180 emergency services and were busy fighting the fire all night.
"Our big thanks to all the emergency services involved, who saved us from worse," said Mayor Andreas Magg.
The fire investigators from the Fürstenfeldbruck criminal police took over the investigation and this is ongoing. In the meantime, however, intentional arson as the cause of the fire has been ruled out. The construction site was put back into operation shortly after the fire. It is currently assumed that the fire on the facade and roof started during the construction work.
In the affected western part of the building complex, in which city apartments will be located, three future apartments are acutely damaged and the city of Olching is currently assuming a 6-month delay in the construction work.
Fortunately, the eastern part, in which the integrated day care center will be located in the future, was not affected by the fire and the construction work is proceeding according to plan.
The part of the building in which the cooperative apartments are located is also not affected by the fire.
The city is currently assuming a damage sum of 1.5 million euros.
