Irschenberg – The new diocesan Caritas director Hermann Sollfrank was recently elected in Irschenberg for the next three years as a board member of the children's village foundation.

In 2005, the charitable foundation was set up by Erika Boeckmann from Prien.

During her lifetime, the single doctor wanted to use her legacy to help children and young people who were in need through no fault of their own.

The foundation purpose of the Dr.

Erika Boeckmann - Luibl Children's Village Foundation therefore provides measures and financial services to ensure the maintenance and operation of the Caritas Children's Village, to enable donations from the village director to the children and young people living there and to promote educational projects.

The board of trustees decides on all fundamental matters and oversees the board of trustees, consisting of children's village administration manager Hannes Klapos and the managing director of the Caritas centers in Upper Bavaria, Axel Hannemann.

It was important to Boeckmann that a person should always be elected to the board of trustees who knows the work in a children's village family from personal experience.

Heike Reichel will take over this function in the future, replacing the retiring Antonie Merz.

Village manager Wolfgang Hodbod completes the board of trustees for a further three years.

Ever since the charitable foundation was set up, Hodbod has known about its importance for the youth welfare facility: “The great advantage of a foundation is that we can plan with the regular annual donations.

Because in contrast to donations, on which we also depend, we know exactly what income we can expect from the foundation's assets every year."

Because what is special about a foundation is that the capital once it has been contributed is retained.

Measures that fulfill the purpose of the foundation may only be funded from the income – such as interest or rental income.

And the income from the real estate assets of the Children's Village Foundation is a reliable figure in times of low interest rates.

According to the Federal Association of German Foundations, there are currently 4,248 legal foundations under civil law in Bavaria.

Endowments, donations to the assets of a foundation, are also possible.

"While setting up your own foundation only makes sense with large assets, endowments of any amount are possible for everyone," explained Hannes Klapos, the chairman of the foundation's board of directors.
