The government is expected to approve the establishment of a state commission of inquiry into the submarine affair in the next two weeks.

This, after Prime Minister Naftali Bennett withdrew his opposition to the commission of inquiry, which is being promoted by Defense Minister Bnei Gantz with the support of Deputy Prime Minister Yair Lapid.

According to government sources, a submarine agreement with the German government is expected to be signed next week, and at the next cabinet meeting, which will be followed by a decision-making proposal regarding the establishment of a commission of inquiry into the affair.

Ganz has been trying to promote the establishment of a state commission of inquiry from the first week of the government's formation, but for many months the move has been delayed in the face of opposition from Yemina and Bennett.

During this period, members of the Movement for Quality of Government, accompanied by a group of former senior security officials, held numerous meetings with senior government officials, including Justice Minister Gideon Saar and Prime Minister Bennett, in an attempt to advance the investigation and dissolve objections.

To this day, Bennett is considered the last hurdle, and now his opposition has been removed.

According to sources in the Prime Minister's Office, the government wanted to complete the deal with Germany and only then advance the commission of inquiry.
