The conclusion is part of a civil lawsuit filed by the family against the police, in parallel with the criminal proceedings against the officer who shot Salomon. • The arrangement is expected to be approved by the Ministry of Finance in the coming weeks.

About two and a half years after the shooting of the late young Salomon Teka by the police officer at the public park in Kiryat Haim, his family reached an agreement with the police in which they will receive NIS 1.8 million in compensation.

The summary is in the context of a civil lawsuit filed by the family against the police, but does not relate to the criminal proceedings that are being conducted in parallel against the police officer.

Also, the arrangement is currently in final signatures and is expected to go through in the coming weeks for approval by the Ministry of Finance.

Recall, according to the indictment filed against the police officer, on June 30, 2019 the officer negligently caused Taka's death, this after he fired at the asphalt and was not satisfied with firing a warning in the air.

As a result, Taka was killed by a bullet that bounced off the asphalt.

The indictment states that the officer was at the scene with his family members, was attacked with stones by Teka and other boys and was even injured in the incident - before using his gun.

However, in the totality of the circumstances it was found that there was room to prosecute him, since the police orders and police procedures do not permit firing at the ground, in the circumstances and in the manner in which the officer acted.
