The Munich Transport Association and the transport company are changing: In the future, mobile phone subscriptions can also be purchased digitally and carried on the smartphone.

"We meet the wishes of the customers," says MVG boss Ingo Wortmann.

Munich – From January 15, MVV passengers can also use subscriptions for the Munich transport association as a mobile ticket on their smartphone.

A QR code in the DB Navigator app then replaces the chip card for MVV tickets.

Since there is no shipping, the ticket is available immediately after booking.

This means that newly concluded subscriptions can be used immediately.

The new offer starts on Saturday in the DB Navigator and will also be available in the Munich Navigator of the S-Bahn from April.

In both cases, the technical implementation is financed by the Free State.

Subscription tickets go digital: It starts on Saturday, more tickets will follow in April

Initially, the personal subscriptions to the IsarCard, IsarCard9Uhr and IsarCard65 are available as mobile phone tickets. From April there will also be the IsarCardJob as a mobile phone ticket. The 365-euro MVV ticket for students and trainees will probably also be available from the summer. When taking out a new subscription for the Munich S-Bahn, everyone can now choose between a chip card and a mobile phone ticket. Existing subscription customers can switch to the mobile ticket in the customer portal.

Passengers and subscribers to the Munich Transport Company (MVG) can also save their subscription in the “MVG FahrInfo Munich” app from mid-April 2022 and show it at ticket inspections.

The paper tickets that are still in use today will then no longer be necessary, but will remain available as an alternative.

The new service only applies to personal IsarCards, not to transferrable subscriptions.

MVG boss Ingo Wortmann: "Paper and shipping will become superfluous"

MVG boss Ingo Wortmann said on Friday: "With the subscription on the cell phone, we are responding to the frequent request from our customers to always have the subscription tickets conveniently with them on their smartphones.

And the new offer is also more climate-friendly because paper and shipping are no longer necessary.”
