complicated
" .

“
We still have too many unvaccinated people over the age of 80
”, was alarmed Brigitte Bourguignon during a trip to Wimille, near Boulogne-sur-Mer (Pas-de-Calais), where she attended the primary vaccination of an 84-year-old woman by a private nurse.
This subject is "
delicate, because we are entering people's private spheres
" and it is "
very complicated
" to identify seniors who are missing, acknowledged the minister.
“
We are working with the mayors, the local authorities, to bring up these lists of people (not vaccinated).
Social Security calls them, sends text messages, we try
, ”she explained.
Vaccination rate lower than average
According to the minister's office, around 500,000 people are affected.
The full vaccination rate for people over 80 - yet the most vulnerable to Covid-19 - peaks at 86.3%, while it reaches 90.4% for the entire population over 12, and even 97.7% for 75-79 year olds, according to official figures.

The public authorities are trying to provide a response to the elderly who, because they are "
heavily dependent
", find it "
impossible
" to go to vaccination centres, underlined Brigitte Bourguignon: "
mobile teams can going to your home is very simple, you just have to ask, families can ask for
it, ”she insisted. In this elderly population still not protected, "
there is a purely antivax part, - but they do not parade in the streets, they cannot - and others who are in lack of information
", in particular on the fact that 'they have the right to medical transport to the places of vaccination, explained the minister.
We must “
continue to convince
” the elderly people concerned, in particular to counter the idea that they would “no
longer have the right to be vaccinated
” or even “
that it is useless
” because “
they no longer go out
”.
At the risk of “
isolating themselves even more
”, argued Brigitte Bourguignon.
