A White House spokesman said the administration had evidence that Russia had planted agents with its neighbor in order to carry out "false flag" operations.

Ghosts of war in Eastern Europe: White House spokesman John Kirby told the media tonight (Friday) that the administration has evidence that Moscow is planning an operation in Ukraine aimed at providing an excuse for a Russian invasion of the country.

"Russia has laid the groundwork for a provocation that would give it an excuse to invade, in the form of a sabotage or intelligence operation. The plan is to accuse Ukraine of plotting attacks against Russian forces in the east of the country. We have information that Russia has already planted groups of agents. "Their goal is to lead false flag operations that will provide the Kremlin with an excuse to invade," the spokesman said during a news conference.

In the US, it is estimated that the operations were supposed to take place a few weeks before a full Russian invasion, which is supposed to take place at the end of January or until mid-February.

Meanwhile, a White House spokeswoman said today that President Biden would work to approve the deployment of additional military advisers and experts to Ukraine with the aim of strengthening the local army towards the possibility of a Russian invasion.

"There are currently over 200 United States military experts and advisers in Ukraine. We will of course guarantee their safety no matter what happens," Kirby said.
