LiveCovid-19: the obligation to wear a mask outdoors in Paris suspended by the courts
This announcement follows the suspension Thursday by the administrative court of Paris of a prefectural decree which made it compulsory to wear a mask outdoors in the French capital since December 31, 2021. In its order, the court considers that this rule “
does not does not meet the requirements of strict proportion to the health risks incurred prescribed in IV of article 1 of the law of May 31, 2021
”.
On Wednesday, the administrative court of Versailles had suspended a similar decree in the Yvelines, considering that the measure carried "
an excessive, disproportionate and inappropriate attack (...) on individual freedom
".
“Define things more finely”
“
What motivated the decision (of the administrative court of Paris) is to say that the obligation to wear a mask was too general in a territory and that it was necessary to define things more finely
”
,
commented Gabriel Attal.
