During the night from Friday to Saturday, criminals entered the store and robbed the alcohol department.

In front of what remains of the Carrefour Contact window in Sérifontaine, a carpenter is busy, saw in hand, making a wooden frame.

"I'm lucky to have responsive friends who came to give me a hand to secure the store," says the supermarket manager.

On the night of Friday to Saturday, his establishment was the target of a ramming attack.

Once inside, the burglars left not with money but a “good half of the alcohol department” for damage estimated at several thousand euros.

A gendarmerie investigation was opened and entrusted to the Méru research brigade.

As is often the case in this type of case, the carcass of the car used - a Fiat 500 - was found charred not far away, in the woods of the city of Sainte-Marie.

In his supermarket, the manager does not hide his dismay at the damage caused.

“In addition, they used a fire extinguisher to make the traces disappear.

They put it everywhere, we have to clean everything, ”sighs the latter.

According to him, it is not uncommon for businesses in the area to be targeted by teams of thieves. Tuesday, it is an Intermarché located 10 km from its establishment, in Gisors in the Eure, which was the scene of an armed robbery. Its crossroads has meanwhile been the subject of numerous burglaries or attempts. “It will be eight times in 10 years that we attack the store, he says. But apart from putting the police every day in front, I don't see the solution”.

A phenomenon that is far from unprecedented in the department.

In April 2021, four attacks of this type took place in four days, mainly at tobacconists where thieves like cigarette cartons to resell them.

The same goes for alcohol, according to a customer of the store, who believes that the bottles will "probably end up on the black market".
