Following an investigation conducted by the National Unit for the Investigation of Serious and International Crime (Yahaval) in Lahav 433, a senior local authority official was questioned today (Saturday) on suspicion of involvement in extortion and breach of trust offenses.
As you may recall, on December 27, as part of the investigation, nine suspects were arrested on suspicion of extortion and receiving anything fraudulently in the Arab sector.
According to the suspicion, the suspects approached the winners of a land tender in the Taibeh area and sent them a threatening message about their lives, claiming that the lands belonged to them and the winners should cancel the win or pay hundreds of thousands of shekels for those lands.
As stated, following the interrogation, tonight the elected official was interrogated with a warning at the Lahav 433 offices and was released to his home at the end of the interrogation.
