The new fire station is still being worked on.

But the firefighters want to move into their new home as early as summer.

They will then be greeted by a work of art that is to be placed in front of the building.

The committee for municipal building projects has now spoken out in favor of this with a large majority.

A work of art is not mandatory for the new fire station near the Amper, but it is desired.

In addition to the committee, the government of Upper Bavaria also supports such projects on public buildings - and subsidizes the projects.

Details of what the artwork should look like have not been specified.

That's up to the artist, explains manager Markus Pree in an interview with the daily newspaper.

It is also unclear which material is to be used.

What is certain, however, is that the artist will have around 45,000 euros at his disposal.

The government of Upper Bavaria takes over 60 percent of this.

Artists will be asked to submit proposals in a call for proposals.

A jury consisting of an art expert, the architect of the building, Mayor Stefan Floerecke and representatives of the individual factions and the government of Upper Bavaria decides which work will then be placed in front of the fire station.

It was also determined that the work of art should be created on a floor area of ​​three square meters and be up to three meters high.

It is also planned that it will be illuminated.

A reference to the fire department is also specified.

"But it will definitely not be the fire brigade dragon Grisu," says Markus Pree with a smile.

It is still unclear whether the work of art will be finished by the time the firefighters move in.

It is possible that the rescuers have to start the operation without art on the building at the beginning.
