As a local mini-Amazon, dorfen.shop is intended to ensure the survival of local tradespeople.

But the joint project of the city and the support group has come to a standstill.

Dorfen

– Even the retail trade cannot survive without an online presence.

Almost a year ago, the city and Förderkreis Dorfen presented an online marketplace for local entrepreneurs under this motto.

The website dorfen.shop already exists, but it is not alive.

"The project is on hold," says Stefan Tremmel, chairman of the support group, when asked.

"Your digital marketplace for Dorfen" is the name of dorfen.shop on the home page. The portal brings customers together with regional retailers, restaurateurs and course providers, it says there. But for the customer there is hardly anything on offer. Just six traders are represented under "Shopping", some of them only with their contact details. Under "News" you can find out that dorfen.shop went online on September 13, 2021, the last of six entries so far is from November 28.

The ball is now in the hands of the city, says Tremmel, who is frustrated with the cooperation.

The post of city marketing officer has been vacant again since autumn.

He now lacks a contact person and generally lacks municipal commitment, says the Dorfen trade representative.

The support group wrote to all 150 members on this subject, and 15 traders had already signed contracts.

But the platform should be available to all tradespeople in Dorfen.

"I see the city as having an obligation to deliver," says Tremmel on acquisition.

And then it's still a long way to a Dorfen mini-Amazon where customers can also shop online.

"The first step would have been to put the companies in the shop window," says the head of the support group.

Participation should cost 30 euros per month.

The pandemic is already getting on the nerves of the chairman of the support group and electronics retailer.

"It's positive that so far everyone has survived and the vacancies in the city center are slowly filling up," says Tremmel.

A new tenant has been found for the inn on the market, and a barber shop has opened in the former post office on Marienplatz.

And if there is more good news, the head of the support group becomes sarcastic.

"It's positive that we don't have any new construction sites at the moment." The traffic delays in the middle of the Christmas season have caused great frustration among business people in the city center.

Because in addition to the intersection conversion on the B 15 through town, the Wesner Tor was temporarily closed.

However, this is just a taste of worse.

The new construction of the B 15-Isenbrücke should possibly start as early as March (we reported several times).

The expected diversions and traffic jams will make shopping trips less attractive.

"Construction site marketing would actually be the next step," says Tremmel.

In the current situation and after the experiences with the city, he is not particularly motivated to do so.
