Homs-Sana
The Directorate of Water Resources in Homs Governorate is completing the rehabilitation work of the distribution basin of the Qutaina Dam, with the aim of rationalizing water distribution and maintaining the integrity of the dam, with a total value of 129 million Syrian pounds.
In a statement to SANA, the Director of Water Resources in Homs, Engineer Ismail Ismail, explained that the basin rehabilitation project is a qualitative project, as it is carried out using extruded concrete with a reinforcing network, after the water was cut off from the facility, pointing out that the Qatina Dam is the largest of Homs dams with a maximum storage volume of up to 200 million cubic meters and irrigates an area of more than 22,000 hectares of the Homs and Hama plains.
Ismail pointed out that the maintenance process did not affect the irrigation operations, given that the irrigation season begins in the third month of the year as a supplementary irrigation of crops. He expected the maintenance work to be completed within the next two weeks, after the implementation rate reached more than 75 percent.
