Werder Bremen has continued to catch up and has worked its way up to third place in the 2nd Bundesliga.
Bremen won 3-0 (0-0) against Fortuna Düsseldorf on Saturday and thus celebrated their fourth win in the fourth game under coach Ole Werner.
Niclas Füllkrug (66th, 87th minute) and Marvin Ducksch (80th) scored the goals for the green-whites.
Bremen – Fortuna had to play outnumbered for a long time in the second half because Kristoffer Peterson saw the red card for a foul play (58th).
The Rhinelanders are thus still in the relegation battle.
Werder were dominant from the start in the Weser Stadium, where no spectators were allowed due to the corona pandemic.
However, the first division relegated could only use its superiority for goals when outnumbered.
Another Ducksch goal was taken back by the video assistant for being offside (73').
