Sometimes it's disused Christmas trees, sometimes it's the hedge trimming: In the past few days and weeks, numerous citizens have simply deposited their green waste at the green waste collection point in Hanfeld - although this is still closed until March.

Hanfeld – The municipal company AWISTA reported illegal waste and appealed to citizens to use the open facilities to dispose of waste. "Illegal dumping of rubbish and dirt in public spaces is not a trivial offence," writes AWISTA spokesman Sebastian Roth in a press release. "There is a risk of high fines and other sanctions." The company will report any illegal deposit.

The green waste collection point is located right next to the municipal depot. It is closed from November to March, as experience has shown that there is less green waste in these months. However, that does not prevent some citizens from taking the waste there anyway. "Some even have no scruples about putting the green waste under the barrier," Roth reports to the Starnberger Merkur. Depot boss Peter Mayer called "almost daily" in the recent past and reported deposits.

Roth now points out that every citizen at the Starnberg recycling center in Petersbrunner Straße 3b can hand in up to one cubic meter of green waste free of charge every day. In addition, there are green waste containers at all 16 other recycling centers in the district. On the farms in Rothenfeld, Berg and Pöcking there is also the option of disposing of green waste "conveniently and without great effort" using a safety gate. Unloading at ground level is also possible at the composting facility in Hadorf – but a flat rate of five euros is charged there for quantities of up to 100 kilograms. Delivery of the permitted amount to the recycling depots is free of charge.

According to Roth, AWISTA also wants to put up a sign in Hanfeld on Monday pointing out the rules.

If you have any questions about waste disposal, the company's service center is also available on z (0 81 51) 2 72 60, Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
