An Iraqi security source announced today that 3 drones tried to target Balad Air Base in Salah al-Din Governorate, where the forces of the so-called “international coalition” led by the United States are present.
The Iraqi News Agency quoted the source as saying in a statement, "The planes were seen with the naked eye by the force charged with protecting the external towers," noting that the attempt was thwarted and the attack on the base was thwarted.
Balad military base, which includes the US embassy, military bases and government buildings, has been subjected to similar attacks every period, most recently last May, when three Katyusha rockets landed on the US military wing at the base without causing human or material losses.
