Despite the UN resolutions on the Palestinian issue that affirm the illegality of Israeli settlement and call for its cessation, foremost of which is Security Council Resolution No. 2334 of 2016, the international community continues not to implement any of these resolutions and to be satisfied with the role of a spectator on the crimes of the occupation threatening the Palestinian existence.
The National Office for Defending Land and Resisting Settlements of the Palestine Liberation Organization stated in its weekly report issued today on its website that the attacks of settlers, under the protection of the occupation forces, against Palestinians have recently escalated, especially south of Nablus, where they bulldozed 50 dunums in the vicinity of the mountain of Burin village to expand a settlement established on the village lands. They also stormed Mosques in the town of Awarta, and they made provocative tours, closed the entrance to the village of al-Lubban al-Sharqiya, threatened to close al-Lubban Girls’ Secondary School and seize its building, and closed the roads linking the cities of Jenin and Nablus, obstructing the movement of Palestinians and assaulting them.
The report pointed out that settlers carried out excavations and vandalism at the entrance to the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of Hebron, and stormed the towns of Susiya and Birin, south of the city, and Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem, and attacked Palestinian homes and properties.
The report pointed out that the attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians are not limited to settlers’ attacks, as the occupation forces continue to demolish their homes and facilities, as they demolished a commercial facility and seized a plot of land in the town of Al-Isawiya in Jerusalem and forced two Palestinian families to demolish a house and a commercial facility in the village of Sur Baher and Shuafat camp, northeast of the city. The demolition of a mosque, 24 homes, and a commercial and agricultural facility in the towns of Masafer Yatta in Hebron, Nahalin in Bethlehem, Silat Al Harthiya in Jenin, and Nabi Elias in Qalqilya.
The report indicated that the occupation forces swept 40 dunums of Palestinian agricultural lands in the village of Al Walaja in Bethlehem and areas of the lands around Jabal Sbeih in the town of Beita in Nablus, and uprooted dozens of almond and olive saplings. They also closed the entrance to the town of Osrin, south of Nablus, and the archaeological area of the town of Burqa, northwest of the city. .
