President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the peacekeeping operation carried out by the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Kazakhstan has successfully achieved its goals.
"What happened in this country was another attempt for external interference in the internal affairs of independent states, and the threats faced by Kazakhstan are common in most countries in the post-Soviet region," Lukashenko was quoted as saying by the RIA Novosti news agency.
Units from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan participated in the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to calm the tense situation in Kazakhstan, and these forces successfully protected strategically important facilities.
