Several Tölz citizens report attempts at fraud on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Sometimes crooks tried to pose as the police.
Bad Tölz – There was another wave of calls from fake police officers in Bad Tölz.
According to the (real) police, several citizens were called by an alleged police officer in Bad Tölz during the afternoon and evening on Tuesday.
He told the (well-known) story that after a burglary, perpetrators had been arrested and found a notebook with the names and addresses of those called.
The fake police officer then pointed out the danger of an impending burglary.
Valuables must now be brought to safety and handed over to a police officer.
The victims responded correctly and hung up
However, the people who called Tölzer were well informed, already knew about this scam and ended the conversation. No money or valuables were handed over. "Unfortunately, it is always possible for the perpetrators to swindle considerable assets in this way," says the press report from the Tölz police. The officials are therefore once again giving advice on how to behave in an emergency. “If you have the slightest doubt, call the 'right' police. Look up the phone number yourself or dial 110,” is one of the pieces of advice. The officials also point out "that the police will never ask for any sums of money or valuables". Under no circumstances should details about one's own financial circumstances be revealed on the phone. And the most important:"Don't let yourself be pressured on the phone. Just hang up.”
