Local authorities in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai have tightened their procedures after detecting an outbreak of the Omicron mutant of the Corona virus.
Agence France-Presse reported that the city authorities suspended public transport bus lines after detecting at least seven cases of the mutant Omicron, while asking residents to avoid leaving the city unless necessary.
National Health Commission spokesman Mi Feng said that the country faces a double challenge from the Delta and Omicron strains, warning areas that have not yet witnessed an outbreak of the disease from laxity in implementing preventive measures and calling for strengthening supervision to ward off risks.
In a related context, the Chinese National Health Commission, He Qinghua, announced today that more than 1.22 billion people in China have been vaccinated with anti-Coronavirus vaccines.
The committee called for obtaining the booster doses as soon as possible, continuing to wear face masks, maintaining social distancing, and enhancing ventilation inside rooms to prevent infection.
Today, the Chinese health authorities recorded 401 cases of coronavirus.
