Two new earthquakes, with a magnitude of 4.6 and 4.8 on the Richter scale, this morning, hit the island of Khark, Bushehr Province, southern Iran.
Fars news agency quoted the Seismological Center of Tehran University as saying that the two tremors occurred at a depth of 10 and 21 kilometers and a distance of 12 kilometers from Khark Island, 52 kilometers from the port of Ghanawa and 52 kilometers from the port of Rig. Their location was 29.20 longitude and 50.2 latitude.
Mohammad Reza Dashtizadeh, governor of the Khark Special Region, said that the two tremors on the island did not cause any damage to homes or oil installations.
An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale also hit the Zanglan region of East Azerbaijan Province, northwest of Iran.
According to the Iranian Seismological Center, the tremor occurred at a depth of 6 kilometers, longitude 46.59 and latitude 39.19, five kilometers from the town of Aqrak and 17 kilometers from Kaban in Armenia. No casualties have been reported so far.
Yesterday, three earthquakes hit three Iranian provinces, including Khark Island, Bushehr Province, and West Azerbaijan Province.
