", explains to our colleagues Alice Trevien, the architect of the historical monuments responsible for the site. The most damaged stones will be replaced. To restore the brilliance of old stones clogged with microorganisms, nearly a ton of essential oils of lemon, geranium and mint will be needed, specifies France Bleu Vaucluse.

Built from 1335, the Palace of the Popes, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995, is the most important Gothic palace in the West and contains the fabulous fresco decorations executed by the Italian artist Matteo Giovannetti.

Since 1907, the City of Avignon has owned it.

The Palace is then open to the public and offers its first cultural exhibitions, especially today as part of the Theater Festival.
