Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) made it clear again at the weekend.

"Even as a contact person for omicron cases, freshly vaccinated (three months), newly recovered (three months) and boosted (unlimited) no longer have to be in quarantine," as Klaus Holetschek (CSU *) said on Saturday in Munich.

Previously, contact persons of a person infected with the omicron variant were quarantined for 14 days without the chance to test free.

On Friday, the Federal Council cleared the way for an ordinance that regulates fundamental exceptions to quarantine.

Otherwise, the following has applied since last Tuesday: The duration of the isolation for infected people and the duration of the quarantine for close contacts is usually ten days.

However, a free test with a negative PCR or rapid antigen test is possible after just seven days - although you must also be symptom-free for at least 48 hours after an infection.*

Pupils as well as daycare and kindergarten children who have to be in quarantine as contact persons can in future be tested after five days, using a rapid PCR or antigen test.

In general, the quarantine times for contact persons of infected people and isolation if you are ill yourself should be based on a “seven-day rule”, according to the recommendation of the Robert Koch Institute *: They end after seven days if you then "free tested" with a negative PCR or rapid test.

For the end of isolation, you have to be symptom-free for 48 hours.

Without a final test, quarantine and isolation should each last ten days.
