You lose nothing by trying your luck;

quite the contrary.

While Jean-Jacques Goldman has left the media scene since 2016, the singer has agreed to respond to an interview with high school students in Montpellier.

The goal?

Produce a book of testimonials on the health crisis entitled

Stars and high school students, positive against the coronavirus,

the profits of which are donated to the Red Cross.

Alongside nine other artists, Goldman shares his thoughts on the pandemic and how he's going through it.

The idea for the book was born during the first confinement,

says Patrick Loubatière, French teacher at the initiative of the project

.

I was worried about the risk of dropping out of school possible with the pandemic, so I looked for a project that would bring the whole class together.

Seventy second-year students from Lycée Joffre in Montpellier took part in its production, which spanned two school years.

The book has two parts. A primer on Covid-19 written by the first class during the spring 2020 confinement. It deals with the different aspects of the crisis in around a hundred articles, from the impact on stock market prices to hair changes. The second part, produced in 2021 by another class of Second, is dedicated to ten artists, including Jean-Jacques Goldman, Sophie Marceau, Jane Fonda, Mark Hamon (

NCIS

), Patrick Bruel, Julien Clerc, Francis Cabrel, Pierre Richard or Albert Dupontel. It comes in portraits, analyzes of works or interviews, as with the singer of

Je te donne.

"

I think these artists agreed to answer us because they were all touched to see young people trying to be positive during this difficult period

, ”said Patrick Loubatière.

Artists involved

"

We had to fight to get in touch with them, because they are 10 major personalities, who do not give up much

," recalls the French teacher. In order not to go through the agents, the high school students carried out “

real investigative work

,

which consisted of making contact with relatives of the artists. To contact Jean-Jacques Goldman, the French teacher simply sent an email to his main collaborator. Paid solution: the favorable response arrived a few days later. “

It was great because usually Goldman refuses to speak

“, he testifies. The interview was rather quick, but detailed enough for the singer to deliver his thoughts on the pandemic. Goldman thus testifies to his nostalgia for the pre-covid era, when he could enter a restaurant or a theater without fear. "

He spoke to us about his mother, now deceased, who lived four years of confinement during the Second World War

", says the French teacher who was marked by the artist's enthusiasm: "“Little it doesn't matter if the project isn't finalized, I liked taking part in it”,

he explained to us.

Goldman's testimony is accompanied by two analyzes of his titles,

Staying Up Late

and

Born in 17 in Leidenstadt,

entrusted to high school students.

"

Some artists have spent more time than expected with my students,

" explains the teacher.

Julien Clerc, for example, was only supposed to stay 10 minutes with us, but he talked to us for 30 minutes.

The same goes for Pierre Richard, with whom he exchanged a dozen times. With regard to Sophie Marceau, Patrick Loubatière underlines that, usually,

"she never gives herself up in the press

"

.

But there, she gave us very personal answers. She really put herself in the students' shoes and even told us that the interview had done her a lot of good, when she was the one who gave us a magical gift

”, he rejoices.
