A decade of delays and staggering additional costs for the Flamanville EPR, shutdowns of reactors commissioned twenty-five years ago, low availability of the nuclear fleet... At a time when France is announcing a relaunch of nuclear power, the -she? Is it necessary? These questions are far from being anecdotal. Nuclear power offers energy independence, clean electricity without intermittence, on condition of being able to build reactors and maintain them at acceptable costs. However, it is permissible to doubt it. The extended deadlines for the EPR site have caused the price of production of this new nuclear to explode, without it being known with certainty whether EDF is able to build others more quickly and therefore at lower prices.
