French President Emmanuel Macron has said that negotiations with Moscow are more necessary than ever and indispensable in order to reduce tensions in Europe.

Macron confirmed last week that he supports maintaining channels of dialogue with Russia while taking a strict stance on any possible Russian aggression against Ukraine, noting that France welcomes the negotiations between Russia and the United States in Geneva and that talking between them is positive in itself, according to what was reported by Russia Channel. And last Monday, Geneva hosted lengthy negotiations between Russia and the United States on the file of security guarantees, foremost of which was the demand by the Russian side to NATO to ensure that it does not expand to the east, which the US side rejects.
The Russian-Western negotiations come against the backdrop of continuous allegations by NATO members and the authorities in Kiev about Russia's build-up of its forces near the borders of Ukraine and repeated warnings by the alliance that Moscow will launch any new aggression on Ukrainian lands and pay a heavy price for any similar move.
