Athena-Sana
An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale hit northern Greece today, but no casualties or damage were reported.
Reuters quoted the Athens Geodynamic Institute as saying today that "the tremor struck at a depth of 19 kilometers off the Athos Peninsula."
Earthquakes are common in Greece due to its proximity to the meeting points of the African and Eurasian tectonic plates.
