The President of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko stressed today that if any sabotage attempt is made in one of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the organization will defend it.
Russia Today website quoted Matvienko as saying in a television interview: We have proven that the CSTO is a very serious institution.. Any hostile forces must take into account that the organization will defend its members in the face of any attempt to carry out a color revolution.
Matvienko stressed that had it not been for the timely and decisive response to the situation in Kazakhstan, the threat would have included the security and sovereignty of neighboring countries, explaining that the CSTO demonstrated its feasibility, importance and timeliness of its formation in Kazakhstan.
Units from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan participated in the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in providing assistance to the Kazakh forces after the outbreak of widespread violence and riots in the country and recently began to withdraw after the return of security and stability to the country.
