The barrier-free expansion at Poing S-Bahn station has been further delayed.

In the direction of Munich, the only way to get to the platform is via the stairs.

The ramp shouldn't be ready before the end of February.

Poing – The new construction of the pedestrian and bicycle underpass at Poing S-Bahn station is becoming a never-ending story: In April it will be two years since the underpass opened, but it is still not really finished. And it won't be anytime soon. As reported by Deutsche Bahn, work on the barrier-free ramp on the north side to the platform in the direction of Munich has been delayed. This means that people with disabilities and parents with prams cannot get to the platform without effort or outside help. Access is only possible via stairs.

Actually, the S-Bahn station should have been made barrier-free by the end of 2021 at the latest. The municipality of Poing has now announced a response from the construction company carrying out the work, dated December 22nd. The town hall quotes from this as follows: "Due to the currently prevailing lack of capacity both at our company and at our subcontractor for concrete construction, partly also due to Corona, it was unfortunately not possible for us to complete the ramp this year (2021, the ed.). .” In January there should be a coordination meeting “with our subcontractor” (quote from the letter). At the end it says: "Regardless of the detailed coordination, we can already inform you that the ramp will unfortunately not be ready before the end of February. Please excuse the current inconvenience. We do everything we canto finish the ramp as soon as possible.”

The reason for the delay is said to be the weather

At the request of our newspaper, the railway announced that the reason for the delay was the concrete work that was still to be done, which was dependent on the weather.

"Especially in cold temperatures, they cannot be carried out without further ado," explains a railway spokesman.

Furthermore, the answer from Deutsche Bahn says: "As things stand, we expect completion in the first quarter of this year." Deutsche Bahn announces that it will "do everything possible to complete the work as quickly as possible".

Because the former ramp at the rear exit of the car park has been dismantled, there has been no barrier-free access to the platform in the direction of Munich for months.

Once again a quote from Deutsche Bahn's written response: "We regret that the construction work will result in restrictions for our passengers and that barrier-free access will be available later than originally planned.

We would like to apologize to the users of the station for the inconvenience caused.”
