Spokesman for Russian President Dmitry Peskov announced that his country will not tolerate again the gradual incursion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) into Ukraine.
"We see a gradual invasion of NATO into the Ukrainian territory, with its equipment, trainers, defensive and offensive weapons, and they provide training to the Ukrainian army, and this has reached the red line and we cannot tolerate it again," Peskov told CNN.
Peskov indicated that the presence of Russian forces near the border with Ukraine is necessary due to the current tensions, stressing that Russia does not threaten anyone with a military operation, but will respond if NATO continues to expand.
A meeting of the NATO Russia Council was held in Brussels last Wednesday and came after talks on security guarantees between Russia and the United States on January 9-10 in Geneva.
