The WhatsApp application has officially allowed its users to link their accounts to a second device such as a computer and send and receive messages without the need for a basic smartphone connection to the Internet.
The company said in a statement that millions of people can now use up to four linked devices and one phone at the same time, as the feature provides a new solution to one of the prominent application restrictions that prevents users from opening their accounts on another device.
Once you click on the associated devices option from the WhatsApp settings menu, the user will be able to see a new page called “Using WhatsApp on other devices” that will allow him to use his account on up to 4 other devices.
According to the new feature, the linked devices will continue to receive and send messages for up to 14 days after the main smartphone’s connection to the Internet is interrupted, and it is not necessary to keep the phone connected to it to use WhatsApp on the linked devices.
This feature comes from the WhatsApp application to catch up with what was presented by its strongest competitor, Telegram, in which the account can be used through the web version without a phone connected to the Internet.
