Against the background of the contacts for a plea deal: Netanyahu postponed debate in Knesset today Israel today

The chairman of the opposition decided not to hold the 40-signature debate, which required his presence and the presence of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

Against the background of reports of a plea deal being drawn up between opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu and ombudsman Avichai Mandelblit, Netanyahu decided to postpone a debate that required his presence today (Monday) in the Knesset plenum.

This is a discussion of 40 signatures, which Prime Minister Naftali Bennett was also obliged to attend.

The topic of discussion was "loss of Jewish identity and damage to the status of the Western Wall."

In addition, a meeting of the Likud faction will not be held today.

However, it is important to note that in the last three weeks no such meeting has taken place due to Netanyahu's fear of the Omicron wave.

Former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his immediate family met last night with his lawyers in the private home of his defense attorney, Adv. Boaz Ben-Zur, in the Ramat Hen neighborhood of Ramat Gan, for a crucial meeting. At the end of the meeting, no final decision was made and it was agreed to continue contacts with the State Attorney's Office.

Along with Ben Tzur and Adv. Amit Hadad, who lead Netanyahu's defense team, Adv. Yossi Cohen, who accompanies the family, and his associate Natan Eshel were also present at the meeting.

Another obstacle facing signing a deal is the position of Attorney General Mandelblit, who said in closed talks that he would not go for a deal without the support of senior prosecutors who accompanied the case.
