Relaxation for culture was promised - but not decided.

Not good news for Freising's culture boss Markus Bader.

Freising

– In the Free State, much stricter corona rules apply in the cultural sector than in gastronomy.

Minister of Education Bernd Sibler promised easing last week, but the cabinet did not decide anything of the sort at its meeting on Monday - mainly because of the "somewhat unclear" situation in terms of corona hospitalization, according to Head of State Florian Herrmann.

Not good news, says Markus Bader, head of the Freising cultural office.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Mr. Bader, as far as culture is concerned, Bavaria has the strictest corona rules in all of Germany.

In gastronomy, however, the Free State is the only federal state to do without 2Gplus.

Do you think that's fair?

All areas of public life were subjected to the greatest stress during the corona pandemic.

For a short time we at least had the prospect that the incomprehensible 25 percent capacity utilization regulation would be overturned and that we would probably be allowed to go to 50 percent capacity utilization.

It wouldn't have saved, but it would have helped.

That hope has now been dashed.

Furthermore, the planning uncertainty is a burden.

In the meantime, some frustrated artists and agencies are also canceling us.

The tense, grueling situation has been too long now.

Many creative people are now giving up of their own accord and taking a break, as long as their private financial situation allows.

For our audience, the situation is slowly becoming difficult to understand.

Are cultural events currently profitable at all?

No, not across the country.

Nevertheless, the cultural institutions, state, municipal and private, do everything they can to keep the game going.

For the countless jobs in the cultural sector, as well as for the loyal viewers who accept restrictions like no other industry to come to us in this difficult time and to escape from this time and its challenges for two hours.

Does the 2Gplus regulation actually also apply to artists?

Of course!

We cannot ask of our audience what we, the organisers, the technology and the artists do not fulfill.
