The Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Amr Salem, confirmed the completion of the preparations for the localization of the place of receiving bread in the governorates of Damascus and its countryside, to start with them, provided that Quneitra governorate will follow them.
Minister Salem indicated, during a meeting with members of the Damascus Provincial Council, that the ministry is fully prepared to increase the quantities of flour, yeast and all requirements for the production of a loaf of bread in case the need arises when the localization is implemented.
The Minister of Internal Trade stated that the grinding capacity of the Damascus Mills, which serves the governorates of Damascus and its countryside, As-Suwayda, Quneitra and Daraa, is in an excellent condition, and there are no problems in the work of the mills.
The interventions of the provincial council members focused on the small number of those accredited to 365, while the governorate needs 1500, in addition to the difficulty of delivering bread to some areas due to its geographical nature.
A number of members pointed out other difficulties related to corruption cases among some accredited people, their misdistribution between regions, and the burdens and costs of transporting bread.
In a related context, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection issued a statement inviting the owners of groceries in the governorates of Damascus and its countryside who wish to be certified for bread and a number of other items to call the designated number 0115161100 to register their name, address and phone number to contact him and complete the procedures.
She stated that this measure comes with the aim of reducing overcrowding in the bakeries and ensuring bread for the citizens in good condition.
