In its statement, which was also distributed via Twitter, the Ministry of Health pointed out that since the beginning of the corona pandemic, children have generally had a lower risk of serious illnesses in the event of a corona infection than older people.
Because of the omicron variant, however, a larger number of children have become infected – and hospital admissions have also increased.
But in connection with the death of the baby, it is important to remember that people of all ages can become infected with Corona and also contract Covid-19.
And while rare, most countries "sadly" record deaths among younger children.

Corona situation in Qatar
In Qatar (2.6 million inhabitants), the number of daily new corona infections has risen sharply in the past few weeks because of the omicron variant. Around 4,000 corona cases are now recorded per day. According to the Ministry of Health, the country is in a critical phase and is appealing to the population to get boosts as a matter of urgency. The largest state hospital group imposed a holiday ban on all medical staff in Covid wards at the end of December. Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, around 300,000 corona infections and 600 deaths have been registered in Qatar. According to health officials, 86.7 percent of the population is fully vaccinated.
In Germany, however, the incidence is currently higher than ever.
Those who have not been vaccinated in doctor's offices are now threatened with severe measures.
