The number of new corona infections in Hamburg continues to rise massively.

For the first time, the seven-day incidence exceeded 1000. In the meantime, the Hanseatic city has moved up one place in the country comparison for booster vaccinations.

Hamburg – The seven-day incidence of new corona infections in Hamburg has passed the 1000 mark for the first time.

According to the health authority, the number of registered new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week rose to 1055.8 on Monday.

On Sunday the value was 942.5, a week ago it was 659.7.

The number of reported new infections also skyrocketed to unprecedented heights.

According to the health authority, 4055 new infections were registered.

That's 214 more than the previous high from last Friday.

On Sunday the number of registered new infections was 894, a week earlier 1898. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the number of people who have died from or in connection with the corona virus since the beginning of the pandemic has remained at 2049.

With the seven-day incidence, Hamburg is still well above the national average.

Based on a different calculation method, the RKI gave a seven-day incidence of 805.8 for Hamburg on Monday and a value of 528.2 for all of Germany.

According to the available data, at least 177,013 people have been infected in the Hanseatic city since February 2020.

According to the RKI estimate, 133,500 of them are considered recovered.

The health authority continues to emphasize: "It can be assumed that the number of actual cases and thus also the actual incidence is higher than indicated." The reason is the rapid increase and the high number of cases, which sometimes leads to later reporting of findings by the laboratories as well as to a partial delay in processing at the transmitting offices.

According to the register of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (Divi), 65 Covid 19 patients were treated in the intensive care units of the Hamburg hospitals on Monday morning (as of 11.15 a.m.), 40 intensive care patients had to be ventilated invasively. The health authority had last given the total number of Covid 19 patients in the clinics in the Hanseatic city as 388 as of Friday.
