Pharmacists in Bavaria will soon be allowed to vaccinate and will receive a minimum of 28 euros per injection.

But before that can happen, a number of conditions must first be met.

Nuremberg – Pharmacists will soon be allowed to vaccinate too.

This emerges from the new decision of the Coronavirus * Vaccination Ordinance.

According to the Federal Union of German Pharmacists' Associations (ABDA), around 45 percent of pharmacies in Germany would be willing to vaccinate.

But before that happens, pharmacies still have to meet a few requirements.

Corona vaccination in Nuremberg: mixed mood in the pharmacies

In addition, according to nordbayern.de

, the mood is

"mixed".

"The mood is at its peak," says Ralf Schabik, first district chairman of the Middle Franconian pharmacies.

He also has a pharmacy in Altdorf.

Although he is proud that politicians trust pharmacies to be able to vaccinate, it is an additional task that "will be a massive challenge for us" because pharmacies have to meet different requirements.

"This is not possible in every pharmacy in terms of space and staff."

In addition, the pharmacists have to go through twelve hours of advanced training.

The start of the vaccinations will therefore be delayed somewhat.

"We will be able to offer the first vaccinations at the end of January," estimates Heiko Scholl, second district chairman of the Middle Franconian pharmacists and owner of the Pegnitz pharmacy in Röthenbach.

Not all pharmacies are suitable for vaccination

It is also difficult for some pharmacies to provide the necessary premises: "The rooms have to be converted in a similar way to a practice, for example with a lounger and chairs for the waiting area.

And there must be extra rooms, one for vaccinations and a waiting room, separated from the sales room," says Daniel Sauer, owner of the Germania pharmacy and three other pharmacies in Nuremberg*,

.

Heiko Scholl is skeptical: “Whether we will actually pick up the needle is another question.

That depends on the vaccine delivery. ”Especially with the vaccine from Biontech*, the required amount is not there.

Currently, each doctor is allowed to provide 30 doses of the vaccine per week.

However, only 40 to 60 percent are delivered.

On the other hand, there is enough of the Moderna vaccine on the market – but not everyone wants that, says Scholl.

It has also recently become clear that pharmacists receive the same fee as doctors for each syringe.

This is 28 euros during the week and 36 euros on weekends and public holidays.

This is reported by the Bayerischer Rundfunk.
